Nicholas Myerson

CEO & Executive Director

Prior to cofounding Origin, Nicholas was Head of Residual Oils at Gunvor SA, responsible for waste oils and off specification crude oil processing and trading, as well as niche gasoil and bitumen blending and break-bulk programs. Prior to Gunvor, Nicholas held commercial management positions at OW Bunker and NEOS Resources PLC, where he was responsible for the processing and trading of maritime and land-based waste oils. He holds an M.A. in Law from Cambridge University.

Michael O’Hara

USA Head of Commercial

Michael joined Origin in 2018 as part of the Baltimore asset acquisition, where he had been Vice President of Operations and Sales since 2006. Prior to the Baltimore site, Michael worked in senior management positions at NFIB and RSC Equipment Rental. Michael’s sales expertise and 12 years of oil collection experience has been an invaluable asset to the company, and he is well equipped to lead the roll out expansion in the USA.

Diana Ryan

Group Controller & Treasurer

Prior to joining Origin, Diana held senior financial positions at large, multinational corporations, including Laureate International Universities (Senior Finance Manager), and Under Armour (Director of Financial Planning). Diana played a vital role in the early years and amazing growth of Under Armour and substantially contributed to the successful 2005 IPO and 2006 secondary offering. Her other experience includes Aveniu Brands (Financial Controller), Ernst & Young (Audit Manager), and Mclean Khoehler (Audit and Tax Associate).

Lisa Morris

HR Director

Prior to joining Origin, Lisa held a benefits and compensation management position at Corporate Office Properties Trust, a REIT in Columbia, Maryland. Before that, she owned and operated Strategic HR Solutions and was a senior compensation analyst at Space Telescope Science Institute at Johns Hopkins University. With more than 20 years of experience in the HR field, Lisa currently holds HR certifications from World at Work and Society of Human Resources Managers.

Will Riser

Operations Manager

Will joined Origin in March 2018 as part of the Baltimore acquisition. He had been part of the Mid States Oil team since 2004 after starting as a trusted driver for the company. With more than 25 years of commercial driving experience in all aspects of hauling, Will is a valuable asset in collecting and processing product.

Nino Mendiburu

Non-Executive Director & Chairman

Nino is a seasoned trading professional with more than 15 years of experience in trading of physical oil, refined products, oil derivatives, and credit derivatives. Prior to cofounding ELEMENT with Gregor von la Valette, Nino held several trading and management positions at companies, such as Maddox (former PS Trading SA), SET Select Energy, Citigroup, J.P. Morgan, and Mendex. A native German speaker, Nino is also fluent in English, Russian, Spanish, and French. He holds a business degree from ESCP Paris, Madrid, Oxford and a Master’s from City, University of London.

Dr. Christoph Beckmann

Non-Executive Director

Dr. Beckmann has a long track record serving in top management positions in first-class international companies. He first led the project finance team at Deutsche Bahn AG and was Managing Director for Opus 5 Interaktive Medien GMBH. Dr. Beckmann then joined Swiss International Airlines Ltd. as Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy, and then a year later became Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer and Member of the Management Board. In these roles, he was instrumental in the turnaround of SWISS to become a leading European airline. After leaving SWISS, Dr. Beckmann has worked as a mentor and executive coach for top managers. He also founded and co-owns Turgot Ventures AG, a venture capital firm investing in and helping to build innovative, early stage companies.

Mitch Lynn

Non-Executive Director

Mitch is a founding partner of CRI Global Grupo CRI de Mexico, ECR4Kids, Lightspeed Outdoors, Mobilehome Ventures 2004, PR Investors, and LFT Capital. Prior to these roles, Mitch was Sr. Exec Vice President, Director and Member of the Executive Committee of Costco/Price, President, Director and Member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of The Price Company and a Founding Director of Bodega Latina. Mitch is currently a Director of PriceSmart, a publicly traded company that owns and operates U.S.-style membership shopping warehouse clubs in Latin America and the Caribbean. Mitch holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.S. in Business Administration from UCLA.

Derek Becht

Non-Executive Director

Derek started his career with Valero Energy, working on improving refinery day-to-day operations through plant troubleshooting, operational support, training and mentoring, and capital project investment. Derek transitioned to Becht Engineering, a family business, in 2015 to develop the Process Engineering & Process Safety division. In 2017, Derek became Vice President, Maintenance and Projects with oversight of the Turnaround, Capital Projects, Heavy Lift, Mechanical Integrity, Inspection Planning, and Advisor Resources Divisions. Derek is a Professional Engineer (PE), holds a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Rowan University and received a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana University.
